Morgan County Homeless Coalition


This program is a collective effort of local churches, businesses, and members of the community.

Providing a cold weather shelter for the homeless is the focus of the coalition.

The cold weather shelter provides temporary housing for up to nine guests each night, where they receive a personal hygiene kit, a cot for sleeping, meals in the evening and morning, and the comfort of a safe night’s sleep from the elements.

To learn more about what we are doing attend one of our meetings. Join us on the 2nd or 4th Monday We meet at The Refuge (next to 7-11), in Berkeley Springs at 5:30 p.m.

Volunteers and donations make all this possible. We are accepting volunteer applications for positions as meal providers, overnight staff and various other roles.​

Since 2017, the MCHC has provided safe, decent shelter to any person or family when they are homeless. The costs of construction have increased greatly. We have a dual mission – (1) to shelter people during the winter months, and (2) complete construction on a temporary shelter. To meet these goals, we are planning our first charitable golf tournament, and we are asking you to partner with us in this venture.

The Robert Lowman Memorial Golf Tournament will not only honor a very successful businessman from our community, but it will extend his legacy of helping others less fortunate by supporting the construction efforts of the MCHC- Hope House.

We are hoping you will consider being a sponsor of this worthwhile charitable event. Enclosed please find the Corporate Sponsor Levels form and the Team Registration form. Your sponsorship will help us complete the construction of the Hope House and help us take care of families in need of temporary housing. Additionally, as a sponsor you may be eligible for prizes in the Tournament of Champions in October 2022.

$25.00 pays for a meal ticket, transportation.

$50.00 pays for basic supplies, a tank of gas, or a bus ticket.

$100.00 pays for one night in a hotel; $12-15,000/year for cold weather shelter only.

A permanent 9 room handicap accessible shelter costs $65,000 to renovate.

We plan to open in November 2022, and be open 24/7, 365 days/year in 2023.

Robert Lowman was an avid golfer and businessman. He was always looking for ways to have fun and do good. This golf tournament is the perfect way to honor his legacy and help others. The shelter requires fire alarm and sprinkler system, insulation, flooring, security systems and lighting. We can always use construction material, construction volunteers, and any assistance which will allow us to continue to provide temporary shelter to individuals and families who find themselves homeless. This is the only temporary shelter in Morgan County. We would like to have the shelter completed by November 1, 2022 and open 24/7-365!
